Morna, who doesn’t get on with Lauren. Ben, whose feelings for Emily border on obsession. Dan, the quiet newcomer to the group. Kai, who isn’t just on the hike to enjoy the wildlife. And Alec, the one who knows all their secrets. As the sun sets, a gunshot rings out on the nature reserve. One of the seven is dead. And one of their number killed them…

Emily is staying with her estranged sister Lauren at Christmas when she gets roped in to a bracing boxing day walk at a nearby nature reserve with her Sister's colleagues and Nature group.

Relations between the unlikely group are somewhat strained after a previous incident in the pub, and it seems like each of them has something to hide from their 'friends'.

Lauren and Maura both work at the nature reserve, the others are all 'outsiders' but have formed a 'friendship group' due to their enjoyment of walking the reserve and birdwatching.

As well as an excuse to get together at Christmas, the boxing day walk has also been planned to coincide with a starling murmuration that the group are excited to witness.

The group set out together, but soon become separated. And then a gunshot rings out ....

One of the group is dead, and another of the group killed them.

The beautiful nature reserve suddenly seems like a terrifying place to be, and each of them must decide who they can trust as the battle the snow and treacherous conditions to make it back to the nature reserve's visitor centre (and safe place) before it gets dark.

Or before the killer strikes again ....
